My son was 4 years old at this time and these are things we saw improving from ACC protocol.

Gains:

  • Taking medicine without screaming like he was dying.
  • We could sometimes actually leave the house with him now.
  • He could buckle his own seat belt.
  • he was improving with drawing basic shapes and using scissors.
  • He was open to dipping foods in sauces.
  • He got his first hair cut that did not involve screaming.
  • He began singing.
  • He began using the toilet most of the time.
  • He became silly and happy and playful.
  • Putting his feet in the grass or sand.
  • Allowing his hair to be trimmed.
  • Improved fine motor control
  • Wearing clothes
  • Toilet training
  • Better articulation and expression with words.
  • Tasting new foods.
  • Enjoying music/dancing/singing.
  • Printing his first word.
  • Willingly taking his fish oil.
  • Language play: He also began playing with language and sounds and expanding his vocabulary rather quickly.
  • It was like I had this dull out of it child that was awake now. He was vibrant and creative and smiling. It was amazing as we got to know this little person that was hiding under a film of yeast and toxic metals.

Issues:

  • Still has yeast which causes irritability, defiant behavior, hyperactivity and lack of focus.
  • We encountered frequent colds recently, sleep problems, and yeast rashes. It seems like his immune system is actually working now. He was also in preschool and seemed to catch many of his colds from there.
  • We saw runny noses that would develop on round with a temperature of 99-100F but otherwise no signs of an actual illness.
  • We started adrenal support because some of his symptoms indicated an adrenal problem.

We were using: lots of vitamin C, Echinacea and zinc to help his immune system.

Round 12: He got a cold that went longer than normal and by three weeks I knew we were now dealing with a sinus infection. We were advised to try olive leaf extract, virastop, vitamin C, Echinacea and zinc to help fend off the germ. A few days into antivirals/antibacterial support he got a rash of tiny red dots around his mouth. He also displayed irritability and he was meant towards all.  Viral die off as an unsolicited consequence of treating the sinus.  Once his sinus infection was better we stopped using the olive leaf and his behavior went back to normal. We chose not to attempt further antiviral protocols until later on.

He also picked up strep throat from school and was given an antibiotic by the doctor. Boy did the antibiotics cause a lot of yeast overgrowth. Later on he got a staph rash that required amoxicillin but we stopped after 4 days due to allergic response. We ended up using a natural antibiotic called grapefruit seed extract.

During this time we had also tried nystatin and it worked for about a week, then it just didn’t.  I resumed using grapefruit seed instead which worked much better. It didn’t take long to get his gut back in order using GSE and probiotics.

Round 16 I talked to Andy Cutler about the change in my son’s behavior. He became an irritable, defiant, tantruming more. He suggested adrenal support. We began adrenal cortex glandular for him which was amazing and really helped bring him back to a calmer happier child.

Yeast was difficult and probably our biggest nemesis until we got a handle on it with adequate doses of  GSE and probiotics.
